Indiana is home to the Indiana Arts Association, the Indiana Arts Council, and the Artists Hand.
Indiana Arts Association - The purpose of the Indiana Art Association is to promote interest, appreciation, and participation in the arts. We aim to stimulate the artistic growth and development of our members as individual artists through encouragement, education, exhibits of work, and exchange of ideas. Indiana Arts Council - From the Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz & Blues Festival, to the Youth Arts Celebration, to music a scholarship competition, to arts advocacy, and more, the IAC also serves as one of the area’s most significant voices advocating the importance of the arts for all its residents. Active in arts in education activities, the IAC works with schools and the Lively Arts, the College of Fine Arts, and other programs at Indiana University of Pennsylvania to support educational and outreach opportunities in the arts.
Artists Hand - Artists Hand is a art gallery featuring regional artists and a coffee shop with full espresso bar and tea services. They’re an eager friend to the arts in Indiana County, supporting a variety of mediums and individuals. Catch live music here on occasion.
Food and Restaurants
The Spruce selected its location in downtown Indiana, PA in part due to the thriving downtown and the delicious food in and around the area. While most of these restaurants are within walking distance, there are more incredible eateries within a short drive or bus ride.
Josephine’s Pizzaeria & Enoteca

This family owned pizzeria and entoeca serves oven fired pizzas, traditional paninis, and a vast wine selection. Its sister restaurant, Naps Cucina Mia, sits next door as an excellent example of Italian fine dining. Visit them online here.

A 5 minute walk from the studios, this deli features a ‘regular’ sub that is two feet long. Also available for purchase are desserts, chips, candy, and drinks. Bring your school pennant here and they will proudly display it on their walls! See them online here.

It’s not often an Italian restaurant has a hearty gluten-free menu, but Spaghetti Bender’s is more than your traditional Italian restaurant. Get spaghettini every day for lunch for $4.99. Six Hand Bakery is an artisan bakery in downtown Indiana, PA featuring handmade breads and treats. We make everything from scratch on site with the highest quality ingredients. Co-owned by Stephanie Chandler and Jean-Yves Boulard. Their selection varies daily and weekly, so be sure to check out their planned bakes on their Facebook page!

Palace Gardens Drive In Theater
225 Indian Springs Rd, Indiana, PA 15701
A 1950s treasure, located a 5 minute drive away from the apartments. The theater is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The first movie begins at dusk, and the second one follows a brief intermission. The weekend line up can be found by calling their number (724-465-9032) or driving by their sign (located at 225 Indian Springs Road, Indiana, PA 15701). Tickets are available at the gate for $8 per person in cash. Listen to the movie through 1950s speakers, buy fresh popcorn at their concession stand, and enjoy the playground in front of the screen! There are less than 350 drive in movie theaters in the United States, so we feel very proud to have this one here! Check out their Facebook page.
Indiana Players, Inc

The Indiana Players is currently hosting their 40th season in downtown Indiana. This community theater troupe has a solid line up of shows and a rotation of auditions. Philly Street Escape Room

Located next to the studio building, this experience is a great way to warm up teamwork and critical thinking! Escape rooms are a type of physical adventure game in which people are locked in a room with other participants and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room within 60 minuets. Your team is locked in a fully themed room with two goals; collect the hidden asset and escape the room before time runs out! Indiana County’s parks and trails system is one of the best in Pennsylvania with over 64 miles of rails to trails. The county boasts 792 acres of lakes; 5,452 acres of parks; and 12 miles of single track mountain bike trails.

Yellow Creek State Park provides easy walking trails for visitors of all ages. Enjoy the outdoors and take a break from the studio by spending an afternoon at Yellow Creek State Park, just 14 minutes away from the apartments. Plan your trip here.

Enjoy the beauty of Whites Woods, located a mile away from the studios. This park is a bit smaller but more centrally located. There are a few short trails to roam around the woods. Learn more about it here.
Wineries, Distilleries, Breweries
Enjoy the craft of locally made alcohol! There are bars throughout downtown Indiana that feature cheap drinks and discounted shots, but for the eager connoisseur, these businesses are a treat.

Featuring an array of spirits, including whiskey, vodka, gin, and brandy, Disobedient Spirits offers quite the selection of housemade spirits. Located 13 minutes away by car - or 30 minutes by the Hoodlebug Trail - this craft distillery is within your reach. Tours of the distillery are on Saturdays: 1:00 PM & 2:00. Check it out here.

IUP University Museum

The University Museum is located in John Sutton Hall, a beautifully restored and nationally registered historic landmark built in 1875. Jimmy Stewart Museum

The museum is dedicated to world renowned actor Jimmy Stewart. Located in Indiana, PA, his birthplace. Career and personal history and artifacts, 50 seat movie theatre, and Gift Shop. Winter Hours Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
